Queen Elizabeth II Fields Fund
Fund now open!!
Do you want to revitalise your Queen Elizabeth II Field?
-
Does your Queen Elizabeth II field need a little TLC?
-
Do you have volunteers who are happy to help with the work?
-
Is your Queen Elizabeth II field in England or Wales?
If you have answered yes to these questions then you may be eligible to apply for a grant from our £1million fund to help reinvigorate Queen Elizabeth II Fields.
2012 marks Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and we want to ensure that it is celebrated in fitting style. The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge is a fantastic new campaign to protect 2,012 outdoor recreational spaces in communities all across the country as a permanent living legacy of this great event. SITA Trust has joined forces with HRH The Duke of Cambridge and the Fields in Trust to support this challenge.
Once an area has been designated a Queen Elizabeth II Field an application can be made to SITA Trust’s £1 million fund for improvements to the recreation area. For more information on how to get your field designated visit www.qe2fields.com or call 020 7427 2110.
There are two strands to the fund, aimed at groups with different needs:
The QEII Fields Volunteer Support Fund
Do you have an idea for improving your QEII Field, some volunteers and just need a bit of financial help or guidance to get started?
SITA Trust can award up to a maximum of £5,000 for projects where it can be demonstrated that volunteers will be extensively involved in the delivery of a project to physically improve a QEII Field. This could include site clearance, planting, fencing to make the field more healthy and sustainable or even materials to allow volunteers to make improvements to existing community buildings such as refurbishing or creating better access.
If you think your QEII Field could benefit for this fund them please read our Volunteer Support Application Guide before submitting an application to SITA Trust.

Both strands of the fund are subject to a contributing third party payment
Before SITA Trust can release funding to a supported project we need to receive a payment called the Contributing Third Party payment (CTP). This payment is unique to the Landfill Communities Fund.
Under the Landfill Communities Fund scheme rules, SITA UK (our donor) can contribute some of the landfill tax it collects to SITA Trust, and reclaim most (but not all) as a tax credit. The scheme regulator requires a fee and each successful application also incurs other minor costs.
To make up the shortfall, SITA UK requires that 11% of the money provided is recovered from third parties. We call this element the Contributing Third Party (CTP) payment.
Under the rules, Landfill Communities Fund money cannot be used to provide the CTP so it must be raised from other sources. The CTP is paid to SITA UK and not SITA Trust but neither SITA UK nor SITA Trust will benefit financially.

Extra help for applicants
If you think you may require some help with involving volunteers in the delivery of your project or with planning & risk assessment, volunteer engagement & management or training you may wish to contact BTCV who might be able to offer some practical support. If BTCV subsequently becomes involved in a project, their costs can be included as part of the total budget in the application to SITA Trust. BTCV do not have to be involved in your project in order for an application to be successful - this opportunity is purely available for those seeking a bit of extra support.
N.B The total amount applied for, including any BTCV costs, cannot exceed the fund limit of £5,000 for the volunteer support fund or £25,000 for the major works fund.
For more info on how BTCV can assist you please read the relevant application guide.
Improve your field and take part in the Great British Elm Experiment
Applicants to both strands of the QEII Fields Fund can, as part of their project budget, opt to buy an elm sapling to plant within their field so they can take part in the Great British Elm Experiment. More information is held within the application guide for each funding strand.
