About Us

SITA Trust is an ethical funding organisation dedicated to making lasting improvements to the natural environment and community life. The Trust is a not-for-profit company, a registered and accredited environmental body that operates under the Landfill Communities Fund distributing funds contributed by the recycling and resource management company SITA UK.

Since 1997 when SITA Trust began its funding programmes the Trust has supported more than 3300 projects to a combined value of more than £93m.

What we do

We support community improvement projects in 115 funding zones around qualifying sites owned by the recycling and resource company, SITA UK. We also support biodiversity conservation projects in England and Wales. This website contains all you need to know about how to apply for funding.

Our systems

We have been awarded Investors in People status in recognition of our work to ensure we are an ethical, responsible and people-focused employer. Our Quality Management System is accredited to the standards set in ISO9001.

Accreditation

SITA Trust was the first Environmental Body  to become accredited by the Landfill Communities Fund regulator, ENTRUST, and we are proud to have achieved this status. Accreditation was audited and renewed in 2012.

‘Accreditation is a voluntary process which enables EBs to request a robust risk-based review of their internal control and governance frameworks by ENTRUST.

In order to gain accredited status, organisations must provide substantive evidence that their frameworks are in place and are operating effectively.

If an EB meets the required standard, ENTRUST will be able to apply a lighter regulatory touch through an annual compliance review. In addition, accredited Environmental Bodies are able to self-register projects.' ENTRUST
