30/01/2012 14:36: Funding Boost for Teddington Cricket Club
SITA Trust provides funding through the Landfill Communities Fund. Funding is available for community and environmental groups to carry out a range of improvement projects.
The funding will enable Teddington Cricket Club to remove the existing 18 year old facility which has deteriorated to the point where it can no longer be used and replace it with a state of the art all weather system for use by the clubs adult members, 300 strong junior section and visiting teams.
William Frewen, Chairman of Teddington Cricket Club said "This is a tremendous boost for the club. We will now be able to provide excellent practice net facilities to complement the first class coaching and development that we provide to young cricketers in the area"
Jools Granville of SITA Trust said "Teddington Cricket Club has been an active community facility at Bushy Park for almost 150 years, offering sporting opportunities to people of all ages. In the UK, cricket clubs desperately need all-weather facilities! So we are delighted to be able to support this bid to allow all-weather practice to continue."
