Reclaiming Our Park

A GreenPrints Flagship Project

Projects Updates:

23/06/2009 10:02: Greening up Coventry

Young people from Primrose Hill in Coventry have worked with local residents and community groups to reclaim their local park, transforming it from a neglected space into an inviting park that can be enjoyed by the community.
Year 11 and sixth form students from Barrs Hill and Sydney Stringer schools worked with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, Arts Exchange and The Hillz Radio to create and install art sculptures and plant a new wild garden.
The park had been the focus of a media project with young people tracing and recording the history of the park. Colourful graffiti walls reflecting the heritage of the park have been created - starting a real buzz amongst local residents.
The Reclaim Primrose Hill project kicked off in January 2008 with volunteers taking part in sculpture design workshops.
Feeling inspired? What could you do to make your mark on the environment?
