27/10/2011 11:40: Funding Boost for the Mid Cheshire Barn Owl Conservation Group
SITA Trust provides funding through the Landfill Communities Fund. Funding is available for community and environmental groups to carry out a range of improvement projects.
The funding will enable the Group to provide much needed and vital support to the dangerously low population of barn owls in Cheshire. At the last count there were still less than 140 breeding pairs of barn owls in the whole of Cheshire; the majority of which were reliant upon boxes provided by the likes of the Mid Cheshire Group. In addition, the funding will allow the Group to track and monitor barn owls to better understand their movements and activities.
The Group are very thankful and grateful for the most generous support from SITA Trust. Being a voluntary group, we are totally dependant upon third party funding and therefore greatly appreciate this support which will allow this vital and necessary conservation and support work to continue.
