11/05/2012 10:27: Funding boost for Seaton Delaval Swimming PoolThe community of Seaton Delaval, is today celebrating the news that it has received a £52,000 funding boost from SITA Trust to refurbish the swimming pool changing facilities on the Astley Community High School site.
This funding will enable Astley Community Activity and Sporting Centre to fully refurbish the swimming pool changing rooms, based on the Astley Community High School Site. The whole project will include installation of water resistant wall panels, fitting new changing cubicles, separate disabled and baby change facilities and install secure lockers.
Allison Carr, Secretary of the group said "We are delighted that SITA Trust has agreed to fund this project. The pool is a real asset for the local community but feedback from people indicated that often they were put off using the facility due to its poor condition. This is a real boost for the area and will be a huge benefit. Once completed this refurbishment will provide the area with a great community facility for people to access and enjoy."
Jools Granville of SITA Trust said "We are delighted to enable this project to go ahead and hope that the revamped facilities will benefit the community for years to come. We were very impressed with the spirit and enthusiasm of the fundraisers driving this project forward –true community heroes!"
