SITA Trust launches its 2009 Annual Report at the House of Commons

SITA Trust launched its 2009 Annual Report at the House of Commons on Monday 1st February 2010 at an event hosted by Rt Hon Hilary Armstrong MP.

The Trust invited representatives from several organisations that benefitted from SITA Trust’s support in 2009 through its three main funding programmes. Marek Gordon Chair of SITA Trust explained how important the Landfill Communities Fund has become over the past decade or more and urged attendees to call for the government to retain the diversion rate of landfill tax to Environmental bodies like SITA Trust at the 6% rate agreed in 2008’s budget. David Palmer Jones CEO of SITA UK pledged his company’s continued support to the Trust.

The event, co- hosted by SITA UK who donate their landfill tax credits to SITA Trust was also attended by keynote speaker Isabel Dedring, Environment Advisor to the Mayor of London.

Kevin Drugan of Training For Life spoke about the refurbishment of a rooftop 5 a side pitch in Southwark.

Ken MacKenzie of London’s Arcadia spoke about building a Sand Martin habitat on the banks of the River Thames. View project page
