Young people from Market Bosworth are making their mark on the environment by creating a new bird feeding area in their local country park.

Every year Market Bosworth Country Park attracts thousands of visitors who spend time relaxing and enjoying the wildlife. The park is cared for by a team of Rangers who make sure that the space is safe and accessible for all to enjoy. Working alongside the park rangers doing practical conservation work is the Youth Rangers voluntary group.

The ‘Birds Need Friends in Bosworth’ project will create a haven for a variety of species by building a quiet area with bird feeders and plants to provide a natural food source. People will benefit from screening and information boards, designed and created by young people, so that visitors can watch and learn about the birds as they feed

The bird feeding area will be built over the autumn and winter by 15 members of the Youth Rangers team who will learn skills including fencing, making bid feeders, basic surveying skills, taking photographs and creating interpretation boards. These will count toward the Discovery Level John Muir Award
